Irvine Spectrum Center Named Best Shopping and Dining Destination in Orange County
Monday, October 01, 2018
The Irvine Spectrum Center has been named the Best Shopping and Dining Destination in the county by the Orange County Register.
Irvine Spectrum is not one to rest on its laurels as a go-to spot for shopping, dining and entertainment since it opened in 1995. A $200-million redesign for 2018 emphasizes its community vibe with expanded lawns, more outdoor seating and shaded areas, refurbished and new fountains and updated landscaping.
Thirty new tenants join more than 150 stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. Along with more than 1,500 more parking spaces, Irvine Spectrum Center is bringing enhanced interactive technology to all of its parking structures, so visitors can easily find available spots.
Among the additions and of note to families is the Luckey Climber. With the look more of an art piece, kids will be drawn to the play structure with 75 platforms that encourages socialization and problem solving.
It joins several other attractions at Irvine Spectrum Center, which emphasizes “experiences” alongside shopping and dining to its 17-million-plus annual visitors. It boasts Southern California’s most popular movie theater, with 5,000-plus seats and 21 screens with VIP recliners and seat service. It is also home to the successful Improv Comedy Club.
Other attractions include the Ride 7D, featuring three immersive motion rides. The Carousel has been moved to the front of Target, and the Giant Wheel remains. There aren’t many places to get a sweeping view of the area, but this ride gives you that, from the middle of the center in the middle of the county.
