The Greater Irvine Chamber won three Excellence in Economic Development Awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

The Chamber received a Silver Award for its Business Outreach Rally in the category of Business Retention and ExpansionProgram of 3 Years or More, a Silver Award for its Global Microsite in the Special Purpose Website category, and a Bronze Award for its Career Edge program in the Human Capital category.

The awards were formally presented to Linda DiMario, executive vice president, and Pepper Russell, research and support services manager, Greater Irvine Chamber, during the Oct. 2 IEDC Annual Conference, in Atlanta, Georgia.

“I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of the Chamber and the dedicated member volunteers that make this program possible,” said Linda DiMario, Executive Vice President, Greater Irvine Chamber. “The Business Outreach Rally is all about enhancing Irvine’s economic vitality. Putting our Business Outreach Resource Guide in the hands of our businesses empowers them to tackle problems and grow.”

Business growth and retention is a priority for the Chamber. The Business Outreach Rally was the answer to how best to connect with businesses more frequently and to assist them and help them grow or manage challenges. This volunteer-driven, peer-to-peer outreach program expands the Chamber’s capacity to connect with more businesses, more regularly, with greater impact than a small staff could achieve alone. The peer-to-peer factor is a powerful message to businesses and amplifies the Chamber’s influence in the community.

"This year our judges reviewed some extraordinary projects that advanced both communities and businesses. We congratulate all the award winners, and thank everyone who nominated their projects for sharing their success with fellow IEDC members. What we learn from each other helps us to grow and advance as a profession. We look forward to even greater participation from economic developers across the globe in the 2019 awards program,” said Craig Richard, CEcD, FM, President and CEO, Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, and 2018IEDC Board Chair.
