The Irvine Company has been named the Greater Irvine Chamber’s 2018 Business Philanthropist of the Year.

"This award is especially gratifying for all of us at Irvine Company because it validates our dedication and heartfelt support of local non-profits, including Irvine schools and universities, and our commitment to open space preservation," said Robin Leftwich, vice president, Irvine Company.

The company’s long history of involvement and philanthropy includes:

  • Financial gifts of more than $220 million to city schools and universities, including $45 million committed over a 20-year period to help protect and support the Irvine Unified School District’s art, music and science programs, benefiting 80,000 Irvine students.
  • Preserving permanently more than 57,000 acres of the historic 93,000-acre Irvine Ranch; more than $50 million has been donated by the company for the land's long-term stewardship, and to expand public access.
  • Most recently, the company in April funded a special Earth Day outing for the Boys and Girls Club of Irvine, and each year thousands more Irvine youths visit the Outdoor Education Center, located on 210 acres of land north of Irvine donated by Irvine Company.

“The Irvine Company has made extraordinary contributions to the community over the last 60 years. The legacy of the Irvine Company is evident in our vibrant master-planned community,” said Bryan Starr, president and CEO of the Greater Irvine Chamber. “It’s an honor to recognize the Irvine Company as the Chamber’s 2018 Business Philanthropist of the Year.”

Each year, the Greater Irvine Chamber recognizes businesses and individuals in Irvine that have demonstrated the principles of community service, volunteerism, and the best traditions of good corporate citizenship. Irvine Company was among five recipients this year to earn esteemed honors across five categories: Business of the Year (Antis Roofing & Waterproofing), Entrepreneur of the Year (Vincit California), Nonprofit of the Year (Irvine Public Schools Foundation), and Young Professional of the Year (Ray Ferrari, Orange County Soccer Club).
