UCI’s Kate Klimow Elected Chair of Greater Irvine Board of Directors

Kate Klimow, chief administrative officer and director of External Relations at UCI Applied Innovation, has been elected chair of the Greater Irvine Chamber Board of Directors. She was sworn in during the 2018-2019 Board installation on June 27.
“It’s an honor to chair the Greater Irvine Chamber Board of Directors,” Klimow said. “I’m looking forward to leading this highly-accomplished group of professionals that stewards the Chamber as it ensures the future economic vitality of Irvine.”
Klimow has served the Greater Irvine Chamber in several capacities since 2012, including on the organization’s Board Executive Committee and as chair of the Government Affairs Committee and Programs Committee, where she helped to establish the successful Women of Influence event. She was also a delegate for the Chamber-led foreign direct investment missions, traveling to the U.K. in 2017 and 2018. She has partnered on Chamber career readiness programs, including the award-winning Career Edge soft skills workshops for students enrolled in any of Irvine’s colleges or universities. Klimow is a recipient of the Chamber’s Jamie Trevor Leadership Award. She also serves on the boards of the OC Forum and Second Harvest Food Bank.
Klimow brings to the Board a broad-based business perspective gained from working within both the public and private sectors throughout her career. Her varied experience in government relations and public affairs includes working for the Arizona Department of Commerce, Parsons Corporation, Walt Disney Imagineering, Disneyland Resort, KB Home, California Apartment Association, and the Orange County Business Council.
Honored as the 74th Assembly District Woman of the Year 2016, Klimow has been recognized by OC Metro as “20 Women to Watch,” and was a nominee for the Orange County Business Journal’s “Women in Business Awards.”
Also sworn in to the Greater Irvine Chamber’s 2018-2019 Board of Directors are its newest members, Rachel Dunnington, Google; Michael Drennen, Cox Business; Karalee Darnell, Southern California Edison; Isaiah Leslie, Regal Court Reporting; Scott Norton, Hoag Health; and Brian Montes, Scaleocity Works.
“Our Board of Directors represents Irvine’s business sectors and is committed to driving forward the growth of the local economy and community,” said Bryan Starr, president and CEO of the Greater Irvine Chamber. “Not only do they lead some of the region’s most successful organizations, but they bring wisdom, balance, and collaboration to help the Chamber achieve its mission at the highest level possible.”
