Destination Irvine Promotes City at Travel Industry’s Premier International Marketplace

Destination Irvine’s Wendy Haase, director of tourism marketing, and Demea Metcalf, director of sales, represented the organization at the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW, May 20-23 in Denver, where they promoted Irvine during the travel industry’s premier international marketplace.

Haase promoted Irvine as a destination to dozens of travel media from around the world and attended a media luncheon with Denver-area journalists hosted by Visit California. Metcalf, along with Evelyn Shimada, business travel sales manager for Hotel Irvine, met with 40 international and domestic buyers from more than a dozen different countries during pre-scheduled appointments. 

IPW is attended by 1,300 international and domestic buyers from 70+ countries, 1,200 U.S. travel organizations from every region of the U.S. and 500+ travel journalists. IPW attracts 8.8 million additional international visitors to the U.S. who spend $28 billion. IPW will be held in Anaheim June 1-5, 2019.
