Tourism Saves OC Taxpayers $825 per Household

As a part of National Tourism Week, the 10th Annual Orange County Tourism Conference took place on May 7 at the Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach.

The conference recognized the contribution of travel and tourism to the local, regional, and national economies, and provided OC tourism industry leaders with insights, which they can draw upon for showcasing the region as a destination in the future.

“Centrally located, with world-class outdoor recreation space and dining and shopping experiences, Irvine plays a plays an important role in destination travel, with millions of dollars in economic impact for the city,” said Bryan Starr, president and CEO of the Greater Irvine Chamber and Destination Irvine, the city’s destination marketing organization and visitors bureau.

Conference presenter Adam Sacks, founder and president of Tourism Economics, discussed how the U.S. economy is affecting travel and Orange County as an economic powerhouse in tourism.
