Women of Influence Event Provides Opportunity for Professionals to Pay it Forward through Working Wardrobes
Monday, March 05, 2018
As hundreds of professional women gather to hear inspirational stories from some of the business world’s boldest CEOs during the Greater Irvine Chamber’s Women of Influence event this Thursday, March 8, they will also have the opportunity to share their good fortune with others. Working Wardrobes will be on hand to accept new or gently-used accessories that can be used to help women (and men) who are overcoming obstacles and pursuing reentry into the workforce.
“This is an excellent opportunity to pay if forward and provide a ‘second career’ for any unused business-appropriate accessories,” said Working Wardrobes founder and CEO Jerri Rosen. “We are pleased to be connected with so many generous professionals who are interested in sharing their success to help give others a chance at success, too.”
Founded in 1990, Working Wardrobes has changed the lives of nearly 95,000 men, women, and young adults overcoming difficult challenges, and is also dedicated to helping U.S. Veterans overcome barriers to employment from military service. The organization’s clients – many who have been affected by alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, incarceration, homelessness, catastrophic illness, and traumatic financial loss – become workforce ready by participating in career training, job placement assistance, and professional wardrobe services in an environment of dignity and respect. Clients are referred to Working Wardrobes from more than 60 programs throughout Southern California.
Working Wardrobes was named the Greater Irvine Chamber 2017 Non-Profit of the Year.
The Women of Influence luncheon will feature presentations by keynote speaker Rosie O’Neill, co-founder and chief creative officer of Sugarfina, a luxury candy boutique; Eldonna Lewis Fernandez, retired MSgt., United States Air Force, CEO of Dynamic Vision International, Inc.; and Cassandra Miller CEO of ridesharing company See Jane Go. The women will discuss details of their journeys that allowed them to “be bold” in their careers.
Following up on her high-energy panel participation at last year’s event, Kim Shepherd will return to the 2018 Women of Influence as Master of Ceremonies. Shepherd, chairwoman of Decision Toolbox, a provider of recruitment solutions, will keep the program rolling as she ushers in the dynamic lineup of speakers with her bold brand of charisma.
Women of Influence 2018 will be held Thursday, March 8, 11:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Irvine Marriott, located at 18000 Von Karman Ave. Check in begins at 11:30 a.m. Program begins promptly at 12:00 p.m.
Immediately following the program, the event will conclude with a Champagne reception and Sugarfina tasting experience.
