Sugarfina Founder/CCO Rosie O’Neill to Headline Greater Irvine Chamber’s 2018 Women of Influence “Be Bold” Event
Wednesday, November 22, 2017
Hundreds of professional women will gather at the Greater Irvine Chamber’s 2018 Women of Influence event, on Thursday, March 8, at the Irvine Marriott to hear keynote speaker Rosie O’Neill, co-founder and chief creative officer of Sugarfina, a luxury candy boutique, as she discusses her game-changing career.
O'Neill is a newbie entrepreneur with a major sweet tooth. Inspired by the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie, she and husband Josh Resnick dreamed up a “candy boutique for grown-ups.” In 2012, alongside Resnick, she launched Sugarfina. Named to Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative People” list and Goldman Sachs’ “100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs,” O’Neill is a innovator in the $100B confections industry with an innovative approach to confections and retail.
Sugarfina offers high-quality artisan candies, made by small-batch candy makers around the world, such as gummy bears made with Dom Pérignon Champagne, chocolate-covered kumquats from Greece, rainbow-hued Kyoto Blossoms from Japan, and many more candies that are just as beautiful to look at as they are to taste.
Sugarfina opened its first shop in 2013 in Beverly Hills and now includes 25 boutiques and 15 Nordstrom shop-in-shops in major North American cities. As an omnichannel brand, Sugarfina also has a thriving custom and corporate gifting and events business, and in addition to Nordstrom, has a wholesale presence at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Sugarfina has been named one of the world’s most beautiful candy shops by Architectural Digest.
Before candy, O’Neill played with dolls for seven years as director of marketing for Barbie at Mattel, where she led a global business unit that sold more than 50 million Barbie dolls annually. She received her MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a B.A. in communication studies from UCLA. Her favorite candies are Champagne Bears, Peach Bellini, and Fuji Apple Caramels.
Joining O’Neill for the 2018 Women of Influence “Be Bold” speaker lineup are retired MSgt., USAF Eldonna Lewis Fernandez, and ridesharing company See Jane Go CEO Cassandra Miller.
Women of Influence 2018 will be held on Thursday, March 8, 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the Irvine Marriott, 18000 Von Karman Ave. in Irvine. Tickets are $90 for Greater Irvine Chamber members, and $105 for visitors. Sponsorships and tables are also available for purchase. Check in begins at 11:30 a.m.
