Tech Entrepreneur and Expert Economist Headline Greater Irvine Chamber 2018 Business Outlook

Tech entrepreneur and CEO of Zillow Group, Spencer Rascoff, is slated as the keynote speaker for the Chamber’s Business Outlook Breakfast on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, 7:30 - 9:30 a.m., at Hotel Irvine. Rascoff will discuss housing trends in the county as well as the integration of technology to bring a traditional market into the digital age.

Rascoff oversees the Zillow Group’s portfolio of real estate and home-related brands, including consumer brands Zillow, Trulia, StreetEasy, HotPads, Naked Apartments and Fortune and Forbes both listed Rascoff as one of America’s most powerful CEOs under 40 and he is a recipient of Ernst and Young’s National Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He is on the boards of directors of TripAdvisor and Hutch, a home design app that allows users to apply style filters to photos to customize rooms in their home. Before his consumer web career, Rascoff was in investment banking and private equity, working in the mergers and acquisitions group at Goldman Sachs. Rascoff graduated cum laude from Harvard University.

University of California, Irvine Chancellor’s Professor of Economics Jan Brueckner will share key insight on trends influencing the economy and what 2018 will hold for local industries.

Brueckner has published extensively in the areas of urban economics, public economics, housing finance, and the economics of the airline industry. He was editor of the Journal of Urban Economics for 16 years and is currently a member of the editorial boards of eight journals. He has served as a consultant to the World Bank, the US Department of Transportation, many of the major airlines, and other organizations. He was a long-time faculty member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, visiting professor at UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego, and a visiting scholar at many foreign universities. He received an A.B. from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

The Greater Irvine Chamber’s 2018 Business Outlook, which draws more than 800 business and community leaders annually, is presented in partnership with University of California, Irvine.
