As a follow up to the Greater Irvine Chamber led foreign direct investment mission in February, representatives from U.K. companies visited Irvine and Orange County Oct. 28 – Nov. 1, to learn about the city’s life sciences and innovation hubs and business opportunities in the city. Guests included Alex Garner of Raremark, Tony Jones of One Nucleus, Nishan Sunthares of Association of British Healthcare Industries, and Geoff Fernie and Catharine Hancharek of Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.

“When we launched our life science initiative in the U.K., we anticipated that Irvine/Orange County would be received well.” Di Mario said. “However, the quality of this response and the collaboration we are cultivating allows us to take our message to more UK companies at an accelerated pace which will benefit Irvine’s economy sooner.”

The group from U.K. and Toronto was also hosted at a special dinner with Don Wagner, Mayor of Irvine; Bryan Starr, president and CEO, Greater Irvine Chamber; Demea Metcalf, Destination Irvine; Jim Mayfield, director U.S. Commercial Service, Irvine; Kate Klimow, assistant vice chancellor, Community and Government Relations, UC Irvine; Dan Han, president, Agapay,‎ and vice chair, Greater Irvine Chamber Board of Directors; and Youngsam Lee, executive vice president, Masimo.
