Irvine High Schools Earn High Scores in California’s Top 50

Irvine High Schools have made Niche’s 2022 rankings of the best public high schools in the nation and the state. Out of thousands of public schools considered, University High School cracked the nation’s top 100 at 93.

How high schools in the Irvine Unified School District ranked among the top California public high schools:

#10) University High School  – 4th best in college prep
#13) Northwood High School – also ranked 12th best in college prep
#34) Woodbridge High School – also ranked 30th best in college prep
#50) Irvine High School – also ranked 40th best in college prep

Portola High School ranked 9th best public high school in Orange County.

Arnold O. Beckman High School, located in Irvine and part of the Tustin Unified School District, ranked 48th in California.

The top-ranked public high school in the country was The Davidson Academy, located in Reno, Nevada. The best public high school in California was Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, which was ranked No. 33 nationally, followed by Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego, which was ranked at No. 34)

Niche's 2022 rankings factored in academic and student life data from thousands of schools across the country. The most important factor was academics, but Niche also looked at culture and diversity, teachers, clubs and activities, sports, and more.
