Families Forward Named District 74 Nonprofit of the Year
Wednesday, October 14, 2020
Every year the California Association of Nonprofits asks legislators to select an outstanding organization for recognition. Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris for Assembly District 74 has named Irvine-based and long-time Greater Irvine Chamber member Families Forward as its 2020 Nonprofit of the Year.
While formal recognition is typically presented at a ceremony in the State Capitol, due to the pandemic, Families Forward was recognized during a Facebook Live Town Hall hosted by Petrie-Norris on Oct. 23.
“For 36 years, Families Forward has helped families get back on their feet after facing unexpected crisis,” Petrie-Norris said. “I am so grateful to the team at Families Forward for their commitment to serving our community, and I hope the good-news bell, the bell they ring when they help a family find housing, continues to ring for many decades to come.”
The California Nonprofit of the Year award was created to honor contributions made by nonprofit organizations in the communities they serve. The award is an opportunity for elected officials to recognize the excellent work being done in their districts.
