UC Irvine’s Chris Schwarz to Provide Economic Update as States Begin to Reopen

Chris Schwarz, associate professor of finance and faculty director of the Center for Investment and Wealth Management (CIWM) at University of California, Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business, will present a live market and economic update webinar, Thursday, May 14, at 10 a.m.

As states begin ease stay-in-place restrictions and businesses begin to reopen, Schwarz will cover timely information on:

  • The latest economic data on the GDP and unemployment,
  • What the recovery is looking like in places that have reopened, and
  • Financial markets.

Schwarz’s research on the investment fund industry has been published in many leading academic and practitioner financial journals, cited in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and New York Times, and included in testimony before the U.S. Congress House Financial Services Committee.

Prior to arriving at UCI, Schwarz received a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He was also a visiting Doctoral Fellow at Yale University’s International Center of Finance and received a B.S. from Babson College.
