Trade Expert Jim Mayfield to Deliver California Export Overview at Orange County World Trade Week

The 2020 Orange County World Trade Week (OCWTW) Forum, delivered digitally Tuesday, May 12 – Thursday, May 14, will include an overview of California trade and practical advice on navigating the current export environment from Jim Mayfield, director of theU.S. Export Assistance Center, Irvine, the commercial service of the International Trade Administration with the U.S. Department of Commerce. Mayfield will also provide a brief update on operations and available resources from the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Irvine.

Mayfield began his assignment with the Irvine Export Assistance Center in 2012, moving on to become director two years later, and most recently, their Acting Pacific South Network Director overseeing operations in Central and Southern California, Hawaii, and Nevada. Prior to joining the Irvine office, Mayfield served as the PrincipalCommercialOfficer at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 2009 - 2012. He has also served with the InternationalTradeAdministration’s offices in HongKong, SanFrancisco, and Shanghai.

The Irvine Export Assistance Center is responsible for advising and assisting Orange County-area companies with their international sales and export plans, with a focus on healthcare technologies, manufacturing technologies, consumer products, and infrastructure, among other industries. Mayfield and his team leverage the ITA’s global network – with offices in 75 countries – to assist clients with all aspects of exporting, from researching potential markets and finding qualified distributors to developing market-entry strategies and tackling market access barriers.

OCWTW will feature a keynote from Mark O’Connell, CEO, OCO Global, who will discuss Globalization: Pandemic, Populism, and Power.

Barry Cosgrave of K&L Gates LLPJohn Evans of Tractus Asia Ltd., and Ken Wengrod of FTC Commercial Corp. will lead the panel discussionNavigating the New Trade Landscape - China, BREXIT, USMCA.

OCWTW forum will also include an Orange County trade and export overview from a representative of the U.S. Commercial Service.

Exporter of the YearPartner of the Year, and Global Leadership awards will be presented digitally on May 14 at the close of this year’s program.

Information and advice delivered digitally by a global lineup of speakers and panelists is even more relevant now as the world deals with economic disruptions caused by the Coronavirus crisis.

Since its inaugural event in 2015, OCWTW has convened thousands of attendees from Orange County’s International-American chambers and business associations, public sector and private trade organizations, and members of the business community, growing awareness of the impact of international trade and export in Orange County.

Registration is free, but space is limited. Participants will be able to access live content on a first-come, first-served basis. Some portions of the program will be recorded and made available following the conclusion of OCWTW 2020.
