To help equip essential frontline retail workers with protective face coverings as they continue to serve the public during the COVID-19 crisis, Irvine Mayor Christina Shea and members of the IrvineCity Council delivered 7,000masks to 57 Irvine businesses, beginning with pharmacies and grocery stores.

The face masks, which have been donated by local and international sources, are being delivered by members of the Irvine City Council to the Irvine Police Department’s (IPD) Emergency Operations Center or shipped directly to that location. IPD has partnered with Allied Universal Security Services to facilitate the process.

An additional 20,000 masks are expected to arrive at various dates in the near future and will be housed at the Emergency Operations Center while deliveries to businesses are coordinated.

Information on the use of face masks in Irvine can be found here.
