Irvine Barclay Theatre Announces Four New Board Members

Irvine Barclay Theatre announced that Orange County executives Carla Furuno, Shaun Skeris, Bob Romney, and Christopher Ramsey were elected to its Board of Directors.

“We are excited to welcome these respected and accomplished business leaders to the Barclay as we continue to grow our presence in the community," said Irvine Barclay Theatre President Jerry Mandel. “As we approach our 30th season, we are strengthening our community ties and corporate partnerships, expanding our programming and solidifying the Barclay as one of the area’s top arts venues.”

Furuno is regional president of BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s Newport Beach office and has more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. She has previously served on the Irvine Barclay Theatre Board of Directors.

Furuno holds an MBA from Pepperdine University, Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and Certified Planning Wealth Advisor (CPWA) designations, as well as a certificate in Advanced Portfolio Management from the Investment Management Consultants Association. She is also an advisory board member of the University of California - Irvine’s (UCI) Center for Investment & Wealth Management and serves as co-chair for the UCI Women and Wealth retreat.

Skeris is a Senior Client Strategist with BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Newport Beach. He holds a Master of International Business from the University of Florida and has been in the financial services industry for more than 20 years.

Skeris has previously served on the Barclay’s board, and also serves on the theatre’s Enterprise Committee. He is a founding member of the Drucker School Global Family Business Institute, a member of Gen Next, and is on the Platinum Circle Committee for the South Coast Repertory theatre.

Romney is an entrepreneur with an extensive background in technology, investment, and leadership. For the last 20 years, he has served on UC Irvine’s Leadership Council, Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, and for the last decade, has served as Vice Chairman of the Chancellor’s CEO Roundtable at UC Irvine.

Romney, who holds a Master’s in Computer Science from UC Irvine, has previously served on the boards of PBS SoCal (formerly KOCE), the UC Irvine Alumni Association, Pacific Symphony, and Tech Coast Angels, as well as other venture capital organizations.

Ramsey is CEO and General Secretary of USA Water Polo, the national governing body for Olympic water polo in America, under the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Prior to joining USA Water Polo in 2006, he served as Director of External Affairs at New York City Ballet and previously spent nearly 15 years in New York and Washington for MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, which produced what is now the PBS NewsHour, among other notable programs.

A graduate of the University of Redlands, Ramsey also attended Cambridge University through a fellowship program, holds a Master of Fine Arts from Cornell University, and certificates from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Ramsey is the editor of several books on ballet and was co-producer of the documentary Bringing Balanchine Back (PBS), and executive producer of New York City Ballet Workout I and II in VHS and DVD formats (Palm Pictures). He also conceived the book of the same title (Morrow & Company). He also won an Emmy for "Lincoln Center Celebrates Balanchine 100" in 2004.
