Linda DiMario, executive vice president, Greater Irvine Chamber, spoke to Irvine’s strength and attractiveness as a hub for global companies in a recent episode of Going Global With America’s Best Cities, a podcast of Global Trade Magazine.
DiMario, who leads Economic Development initiatives at the Chamber including business attraction and foreign direct investment, discussed the reasons global companies and companies involved in exporting find Irvine the ideal place to do business.
“It’s because our companies are working in a very compatible environment in which they can grow and prosper and experiment…without fear of risk. We are a very much 21st-century sector-driven city,” DiMario said.
Irvine is a known economic powerhouse of Southern California. International headquarters for a number of multinational firms are located in Irvine, and many well-known international brands have research, manufacturing, or other regional operations in the city.
DiMario touched on the foresight of the Irvine Master Plan and how it played a vital role in ensuring a great quality of life for residents and the workforce, stating, “It was a thoughtful approach by the Irvine family to take a look at the ranchlands that they owned and decided how best to create it so that it was sustainable into the future…and that contributes greatly to the quality of life here.”
