The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced the selection of Godfrey Hinds as Lead Economic Development Specialist for SBA’s Orange County / Inland Empire District Office (OCIE).

Hinds will lead a team of professionals responsible for developing initiatives and opportunities that maximize the delivery of SBA programs and services to approximately 7 million people throughout Southern California’s Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, which cover more than 28,000 square miles.

“I am pleased to welcome Godfrey to our SBA team”, added OCIE District Director Quijada. “He brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience that will help support the SBA focus of ensuring small business owners have the tools, resources, and relationships needed to succeed.”

Hinds comes to SBA from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development with over two decades of experience serving as an Assistant County Supervisor, Community Development Manager and an Area Director. He has worked in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Texas and the United States Virgin Islands to build partnerships and leverage federal private and state funds.

Throughout his tenure he has been dedicated to creating prosperity and improving the quality of life in rural America. Hinds’ responsibility was to oversee the delivery of over forty programs ranging from small business, community facilities, single and multi-family housing and energy, loans and grants, to address the needs and challenges and bring economic development to rural communities.

Hinds holds a B.A. in economics and an M.Sc. in agricultural economics from the University of Puerto Rico. He also served three and a half years in the United States Army and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

The U.S. Small Business Administration makes the American dream of business ownership a reality. As the only go-to resource and voice for small businesses backed by the strength of the federal government, the SBA empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners with the resources and support they need to start, grow or expand their businesses, or recover from a declared disaster. It delivers services through an extensive network of SBA field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations.

The Orange County / Inland Empire District Office, under the leadership and vision of J. Adalberto Quijada, District Director, is responsible for the delivery of SBA programs and services in the Southern California counties of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino.  Located in Santa Ana near John Wayne Airport, the office and its staff facilitate understanding and access to SBA loan programs; coordinate and conduct hundreds of training sessions and special events annually such as matchmaking forums and loan workshops; and manage a portfolio of nearly 100 businesses enrolled in the agency’s 8(a) business development program.
