Families Forward Benefits from the Giving Spirit at Greater Irvine Chamber Holiday Open House
Wednesday, December 11, 2019
More than 200 guests celebrated and were in the giving spirit, donating nearly $600 in gift cards to benefit Families Forward during the Greater Irvine Chamber Dec. 5 Holiday Open House.
“We are so appreciative of the long-time partnership we have had with the Greater Irvine Chamber. Being named the 2019 Nonprofit of the Year was an exceptional honor and the support of the Chamber through this recognition as well as the contributions made through their holiday gift card drive for families in need has been nothing short of amazing," said Madelynn Hirneise, CEO, Families Forward. "Families Forward is excited to continue our partnership with the Greater Irvine Chamber for many years to come!”
Families Forward is on the leading edge of effective solutions for families, including dramatically increasing the inventory of affordable housing available to vulnerable parents and children in the county.
One of the fastest-growing segments of the homeless population is working families with children struggling to make ends meet. The high cost of basic living including rent, transportation, and childcare, coupled with the significant lack of affordable housing, puts many families at risk. More than 28,000 school-age children in Orange County are homeless or housing-insecure.
