Destination Irvine, the destination marketing organization of the Greater Irvine Chamber, in partnership with Visit Anaheim, Travel Costa Mesa, Visit Dana Point, Visit Huntington Beach, and Visit Laguna Beach, has formed the Orange County Sports Commission (OCSC).

OSCS is a collection of Orange County destinations partnering together to improve the vitality of the Orange County economy and to enrich the community by attracting, creating, managing, and enhancing significant sporting and competitive events.

“Our partnership with the OC Sports Commission will further enhance our director of sports sales’ efforts, increasing our capacity to host national and international sporting events. In addition, the partnership will expand our marketing outreach, garnering Irvine and Orange County broader exposure as a premier sports destination,” said Wendy Haase, vice president, Destination Irvine, who will serve as the first secretary for the OCSC Board of Directors.

Jay Burress, president and CEO, Visit Anaheim, formally announced the formation of the OCSC on Nov. 12 at the opening general session of the TEAMS ’19 conference, the world’s leading conference and expo for the sports-event industry.

During the conference, Dave Lucey, director of sports sales for Destination Irvine, along with the City of Irvine and five Irvine hoteliers, promoted the destination to nearly 40 event organizers.
