The American Research Center in Egypt (ACRE) will host its April 2022 Annual Meeting in Irvine, bringing to the city a total of 730 room nights with an anticipated economic impact of nearly $270,000.

The booking is a result of the sales efforts of Destination Irvine, the destination marketing organization of the Greater Irvine Chamber and the participation of select Irvine hotels.

“I had a splendid time during my site visit to Irvine! Being as it was my first visit to the area, I went from knowing next to nothing about Irvine to being able to confidently discuss the area and its amazing strengths thanks to the Destination Irvine team,” said Megan Allday, meetings and events consultant, ACRE.

ARCE convenes the annual three-day meeting at which scholars are invited to present their research findings during more than 100 individual presentations. The event provides a unique opportunity for scholars, students, ARCE members, and the general public to hear and engage directly from those working in the field.

The ACRE is a private, nonprofit organization composed of educational and cultural institutions, professional scholars, and private individuals. ARCE's mission is to support research on all aspects of Egyptian history and culture, foster a broader knowledge about Egypt among the general public, and strengthen American-Egyptian cultural ties. Through grants, fieldwork and field schools, ARCE’s partnership with Egyptians contributes to the shared goal of cultural heritage preservation.
