Irvine has been recognized by the foreign direct investment publication FDI Magazine as the fifth top American City of the Future 2019/20 in its size category. Ranking fifth for human capitaland lifestyle, ninth for economic potential, and ninth for connectivity, as well as ranking high in Cost Effectiveness and Business Friendliness, were factors in Irvine attaining the top fifth overall spot from among comparably-sized American cities.

“Irvine has earned this continued recognition because its forward-looking master plan sustains our enviable quality of life and robust economy. It is this balance that supports our economic potential,” said Linda DiMario, executive vice president, Greater Irvine Chamber, who accepted the awards during the International Economic Development Council Annual Conference in Indianapolis this month.

fDi magazine’s Financial Times division collected data on cities for analysis and to arrive at their American Cities of the Future 2019/20 list. Cities in the study were categorized according to population.
