The Greater Irvine Chamber continues its work to encourage expansion-ready life science and technology companies to make Irvine their U.S. headquarters. Linda DiMario, executive vice president, Greater Irvine Chamber, returned to the U.K. this July 1-5, after a productive Chamber-led mission in February with a delegation that included representatives from University of California, Irvine (UCI), Allergan, Edwards Lifesciences, UCI Medical Center, Jones Lang LaSalle, OCTANe, and others. During her most recent visit to the U.K., DiMario met with executives from 30 companies at the London offices of K&L Gates and London and Partners.

“Many of the companies we met this July, we first met in 2017, 2018, or 2019. We learned more about their progress, discussed their U.S. expansion timelines and considered their eligibility for our October Life Science Showcase,” DiMario said. “We are proud to report that at least eight of these companies were referred to us by our partners, the Association of British Healthtech Industries, London and Partners, OCO Global London Offices, and One Nucleus, and U.K. company executives who visited Irvine last October and experienced our Irvine Ready! gateway program.”

As a result of the July visit to the U.K., more than 10 companies have been identified for invitation to the Chamber’s Life Science Showcase featuring OCTANe’s Medical Technology Innovation Forum. Three site visits are planned during August, September, and October at companies that are new to the Irvine showcase. Expansion details are expected to be announced early fall 2019.
