Wednesday, May 29, 2019
Representing the interests of the greater Irvine business community, leadership from the Greater Irvine Chamber joined business, civic, and legislative leaders in Sacramento this month for the 2019 CalChamber Capitol Summit.
During the two-day summit, Greater Irvine Chamber President and CEO Bryan Starr, Vice President of Operations Jessica Welch, and Director of Government Affairs and Economic Development Whit Peterson heard from California Governor Gavin Newsom, who touched on California’s economic strength in his address.
The Chamber team also attended a session on California’s budget with the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor Lenny Mendonca, a policy briefing by CalChamber lobbying staff, and a legislative and election update from CalChamber President and CEO Allan Zaremberg.
“Attending this annual summit hosted by the California Chamber of Commerce is valuable in that it facilitates a continued relationship with our state legislators,” Peterson said. “It also affords us the opportunity to see first-hand the work that is being done in the Capitol to support business.”
While in Sacramento, the Greater Irvine Chamber leadership team met on the floor of the Senate with California State Senator John Moorlach, who represents California’s 37th Senate District, which includes Irvine.
