Five years ago, the Greater Irvine Chamber established the John Colvin Memorial Scholarship in coordination with the Colvin family, in honor of John Greg Colvin, a long time-resident of Orange County and an active member of the Chamber, including serving as chair of the Business Attraction and Retention Committee. He passed in 2014 while training for an Ironman Triathlon.

This year’s John Colvin Memorial Scholarships were formally presented by the Greater Irvine Chamber to Irvine students Anganette Cisneros, Megan Kosai, Jake Liechty, and Anthony Sandoval at the 2019 Orange County World Trade Week Breakfast and Forum.

Each student awarded a scholarship has been accepted to or is currently enrolled in a four-year degree program at a university or college in Irvine, has a demonstrated commitment to a fitness lifestyle, and has an objective to contribute to the health and economic vitality of Irvine and California.

The scholarship serves as part of the Chamber’s workforce development initiative, which facilitates through task forces the development of a 21st-century workforce.
