The 2019 Orange County World Trade Week Breakfast and Forum (OCWTW) will include an overview of trends and key data points for trade in Orange County from Jim Mayfield, director of the U.S. Export Assistance Center, Irvine, the commercial service of the International Trade Administration with the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Mayfield began his assignment with the Irvine Export Assistance Center in 2012, moving on to become director two years later. Prior to joining the Irvine office, Mayfield served as the Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 2009 - 2012. He has also served with the International Trade Administration’s (ITA) offices in Hong Kong, San Francisco, and Shanghai.

The Irvine Export Assistance Center is responsible for advising and assisting Orange County-area companies with their international sales and export plans, with a focus on healthcare technologies, manufacturing technologies, consumer products, and infrastructure, among other industries. Mayfield and his team leverage the ITA’s global network – with offices in 75 countries – to assist clients with all aspects of exporting, from researching potential markets and finding qualified distributors to developing market-entry strategies and tackling market access barriers.

Held on Thursday, May 16, 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., at the Irvine Marriott, 18000 Von Karman Ave., the OCWTW program will feature a keynote address by Steve Wagner, global managing director of Experian Decision Analytics, who will discuss solutions and tools to better manage fraud, and safeguard data against the constant and evolving threat posed by increasingly sophisticated cyber criminals.

This year’s Export Success Panel includes panelists from Taco Bell, Technologent, and Worldwide Environmental Products, Inc. who will offer attendees insights into the challenges and opportunities for business expansion through exporting.

The 2019 Exporter of the Year Award will be formally presented during the program, showcasing an Orange County-based business that has expanded its markets through successful export strategies. The nominees are Diamon-Fusion International, Earth Friendly Products, Highlife International LLC, Linden Educational Services, Microwave Dynamics, and Worldwide Environmental Products, Inc.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the International Resource EXPO.
