Irvine is an impressive community in many ways as the result of the visionary Irvine Master Plan established more than a half-century ago. A major factor in the city’s exceptional quality of life today is convenient access to some of the finest healthcare institutions in the world.

City of Hope, known for many firsts, is a leader in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The National Cancer Institute designated City of Hope one of just 49 comprehensive cancer centers in the nation. One of its many important breakthroughs, Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell therapy, uses the body’s own immune system to fight lymphoma, leukemia, and solid tumors. City of Hope is expanding its world-class cancer care network in Orange County with a 12,500-square-foot facility in Newport Beach. The site, projected to open in late 2019, will be the first spoke of the main health campus planned to open in 2022 at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine.
Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian consists of two acute-care hospitals, Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Hoag Hospital Irvine, as well as eight health centers and 11 urgent care centers. Irvine facilities include Benjamin & Carmela Du Emergency Pavilion, Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute, and Hoag Family Cancer Institute. Through its five institutes, Hoag offers specialized services in cancer, heart and vascular, neurosciences, women’s health, and orthopedics through Hoag Orthopedic Institute. Hoag has been named one of the Best Regional Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, and among the 100 Great Hospitals in America by Becker’s Healthcare.
Kaiser Permanente Orange County has provided comprehensive, affordable health care to Orange County for nearly 40 years. Kaiser Permanente, CalOptima, and St. Joseph Hoag Health are joining the Orange County Board of Supervisors in the creation of a new 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, advancing mental health and wellness in Orange County. Construction is expected to commence in late spring 2019.
MemorialCare is a nonprofit integrated healthcare delivery system that includes leading hospitals and medical groups MemorialCare Medical Group and Greater Newport Physicians, which have the highest patient satisfaction scores in Orange County, according to a statewide survey. MemorialCare has affordable, convenient outpatient urgent care, imaging, breast care, surgical, dialysis, and health centers throughout Irvine, Orange County, and Southern Los Angeles County. The 417-bed acute care hospital provides tertiary and quaternary care, ambulatory and specialty medical clinics, and behavioral health and rehabilitation services. Ranked among the nation’s best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, UCI Medical Center features Orange County’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, high-risk perinatal/neonatal program, and American College of Surgeons-verified Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma center and regional burn center.
