Government Affairs Committee

government affairs

The Government Affairs Committee monitors legislation, environmental statutes, and political issues of concern that may impact the business environment in Irvine and neighboring cities.

Often, local, state, and federal elected officials are invited to participate in committee meetings and provide updates from their offices. The committee works to provide a unified voice on issues and projects affecting businesses, members and citizens within Irvine and beyond its borders.

Meets every first Thursday of the month at 8:00 AM, at the Greater Irvine Chamber, 36 Executive Park, Suite 100, Irvine.

Chaired by Kate Klimow, assistant vice chancellor, Community and Governmental Affairs, University of California, Irvine.

Next Meeting: Thursday, May 4, 8 - 9:30 AM

Our next three Government Affairs Meetings will be focused on housing in Irvine and beyond. On May 4th, our first installment of the Summer Housing Series will feature Irvine Planning Commission Chairman Anthony Kuo and California Apartment Association Vice President of Public Affairs Matt Buck. Join us as we discuss the state of housing in Orange County, where the challenges lie, and what is being done to create more housing for an ever growing workforce.

Thursday, April 6, 8 - 9:30 AM

Guest Speaker: U.S. Chamber of Commerce Western Region Executive Director Jennings Imel

Mr. Jennings provided an update of current federal-level legislative activity affecting business, as well as a legislative forecast and the U.S. Chamber’s priorities for the year.
