Government Affairs Committee
The Government Affairs Committee monitors legislation, environmental statutes, and political issues of concern that may impact the business environment in Irvine and neighboring cities.
Often, local, state, and federal elected officials are invited to participate in committee meetings and provide updates from their offices. The committee works to provide a unified voice on issues and projects affecting businesses, members and citizens within Irvine and beyond its borders.
Chaired by Kate Klimow, assistant vice chancellor, Community and Governmental Affairs at the University of California, Irvine.
Next Meeting: Thursday, July 6
The July 6 session of the Summer Housing Series will feature Mark Asturias, executive director of the Irvine Community Land Trust. Asturias will focus his discussion on the operation of the Trust and how it helps provide housing to low- and moderate-income families, enabling them to become homeowners.
Previous Meeting: June 1
Guest Speakers: Innovative Housing Opportunities CEO Pat Whitaker and Orange County Director of Housing & Community Development & Homeless Prevention Julia Bidwell.
