The expansion among California’s emerging sectors is mirrored in Irvine’s economy. The city is home to more than 900 tech companies, a growing number of which are cybersecurity companies. The Greater Irvine Chamber’s Economic Vitality Council recognizes this trend and is actively supporting companies as they manage 21st-century cybersecurity issues.

“Cybersecurity is a top priority, globally as well as locally,” said Linda DiMario, executive vice president, Economic Development, Greater Irvine Chamber. “Irvine has a strong cybersecurity sector, which is collectively providing solutions to one of the biggest threats we face in the 21st century. The Chamber is working to bring their advances to businesses as they continue to increase their digital reliance.”

Other top-performing sectors in the state that are equally dominant in Irvine, are foreign direct investment and bioscience.

Leveraging the strength of Irvine’s bioscience sector, the Greater Irvine Chamber has led two delegations to the United Kingdom to meet with representatives from bioscience companies that are looking to have a U.S. presence in Irvine. As a result of this foreign direct investment mission, several of the U.K. companies contacted are exploring opportunities to expand to Irvine, some of which have already made a visit to Irvine to gain a first-hand view of the city’s bioscience and innovation hubs.
