A delegation led by the Greater Irvine Chamber is headed to London – the first stop on its two-city foreign direct investment (FDI) mission in the U.K., Feb. 12-16.

Chamber president and CEO Bryan Starr and executive vice president Linda DiMario are traveling to London and Cambridge with Irvine Mayor Don Wagner and executives from California State University Fullerton, Global Affairs; Edwards Lifesciences; Horizon Research and British American Business Council; Jones Lang LaSalle; OCTANe; Thinkbox Technologies; University of California, Irvine (UCI) Applied Innovation; and UCI Medical Center.

The goal of the mission is to build awareness for Irvine/Orange County and its life science industry strength, and identify, connect with, and encourage U.K.-based life science companies to look at Irvine/Orange County when they consider expansion into the U.S. The delegation will collaborate with two of the U.K.’s most prestigious associations in the life sciences field: One Nucleus and the Association of British Healthcare Industries to hold three days of meetings in London and one full day of meetings in Cambridge, with the added feature of two “thought leader” panels and receptions designed to stimulate discussion and build working relationships between companies and life science sectors.

The delegation’s presentations will include a video produced by the Greater Irvine Chamber, featuring strengths of the city’s life sciences ecosystem.

This FDI mission follows the successful inaugural mission conducted February 2017, during which the delegation met with over 40 companies, connected with over 150 companies and contacts and established working relationships with very important industry associations.
