Greater Irvine Chamber President and CEO Bryan Starr addressed the Irvine City Council and community members during the Dec. 14 council meeting, sharing an overview of the Chamber’s activity and community involvement.

Starr serves on Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan’s Business Reopening Taskforce.

Starr’s presentation included the significant positive impact the organization’s destination marketing division—Destination Irvine—has contributed to the city’s economy. Attracting corporate and leisure travel and sports tournaments to the city, Destination Irvine has year-to-date facilitated visitor spending in Irvine of approximately $21.3 million.

Through the efforts of Destination Irvine, the city was selected as the host location for four major tournaments this year: USA Swimming, USA Water Polo Junior Olympics, USA Curling Night (televised on NBC Sports Network), and the American Hockey League playoffs.

The Chamber serves the interests of more than 20,000 businesses in the greater Irvine area, advocating at federal, state, and local government levels, and convening business, education, nonprofit, government, and community.
