The City of Irvine is offering a free Green Business Assistance Program, designed to help businesses operate sustainably and receive local and statewide recognition for their efforts.

The city launched the new program under the California Green Business Network, which provides a statewide standard of sustainability for Green Business Certification.

Assistance will be provided to organizations seeking Certified Green Business status as they implement practices that reduce energy and water consumption, prevent pollution, divert waste from landfills, and create a cleaner, healthier environment for their employees.

Participating businesses will receive a free on-site assessment of their business and a customized action plan on how to implement sustainability measures. The program will also provide businesses with water and/or low-cost energy-saving devices and resources through utility and other partnerships at no cost, as well as step-by-step guidance to meet certification criteria and state standards, and up to $500 in refunds of any cost incurred to meet criteria, on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Irvine City Council will reward businesses that participate in the program with a certification seal and an official commendation award.

The City’s Green Business Assistance Program is offered in partnership with the Greater Irvine Chamber, Irvine Ranch Water District, SoCal Gas Company, Southern California Edison, Waste Not OC, and Waste Management.
