The Greater Irvine Chamber’s Economic Vitality Council (EVC) has formed two new task forces to support the Chamber’s capacity to influence Irvine’s competitiveness in a global economy, attract new businesses, improve business retention, and expand and grow businesses.

The Growing Irvine Exporters Task Force has been formed to identify local companies that are not exporting but that would benefit from exporting to grow their business. The task force will focus on developing a set of criteria to evaluate a company’s viability to export. It will then connect interested companies to such export assets as U.S. Commercial Service, Export Assistance Center, U.S. Small Business Administration, District Export Council of Southern California, Women in Trade, and the Small Business Development Center, to provide expertise, services, resources and opportunities for companies to effectively develop and implement an exporting plan of action.

The Next Stage International Marketing Task Force was formed to attract incremental foreign direct investment by life science and technology companies in targeted countries—including Austria, Belgium, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, South Korea, and Taiwan—by raising Irvine’s profile as a smart choice for expanding companies. The task force’s strategy includes informing and engaging embassies, consuls, and investment and trade organizations of those countries. Additionally, U.S. industry sector associations and organizations will be engaged as multipliers of EVC messaging and lead generators of prospective companies to expand to Irvine.
