Following a campaign launch in January 2019 to mark the milestone year, a more formal recognition will be held during the Chamber’s Celebrate Irvine event on June 28. Messages from key figures in the business community and city officials including Irvine Mayor Christina Shea will provide a look back on the Chamber’s role in the city, as well as thoughts on Irvine’s bright future.

Over the past four decades, the Greater Irvine Chamber has been integral in the city’s growth. The Chamber has partnered with Irvine’s highly-ranked schools and 15 colleges and universities on programs that help ensure a sustainable talent pipeline for Irvine companies. Partnerships with accelerators such as UCI Applied Innovation, OCTANe, and Coded in OC, help young companies to launch and create a thriving startup ecosystem. The Chamber’s partnership with Irvine’s city government has created the opportunity to advance an initiative that attracts global and domestic companies looking to expand to this region.

The Greater Irvine Chamber’s destination marketing division, Destination Irvine, attracts millions of dollars in economic impact to the city and its 21 Irvine hotel partners annually.

The Greater Irvine Chamber in 2018 was awarded a 5-Star Accreditation by the United States Chamber of Commerce. The Greater Irvine Chamber is one of seven chambers in California to hold this distinction, and one of 120 in the nation. Only 1.7 percent of all chambers in the U.S. currently have a 5-star rating.

Over the past few years, the Chamber has received numerous other honors including in 2018 the President’s “E” Award for Export Service by the U.S. Department of Commerce for significant contributions to an increase in U.S. exports; the Western Association of Chamber Executives’Executive of the Year award to Greater Irvine ChamberPresident and CEO Bryan Starr, and an Outstanding Program Award to the Chamber’s Irvine Ready gateway business expansion program; as well as being named a Best Place to Work by the Orange County Business Journal.

Through its programs and events, the Greater Irvine Chamber has convened thousands of business leaders each year to build long-lasting professional relationships.
